I am writing to formally request a full refund for my recent booking, as I encountered several issues with the host that made it impossible for me to check in, despite fulfilling all requirements on my part. Below is a detailed account of the situation: Surprise Pet Fee: I specified "pet cat" in the special instructions when booking. The host later confirmed my request without mentioning any additional fees for the pet. However, when I arrived at the property, I was informed by the host that there was a $100 pet fee. This fee was never disclosed upfront, either during the booking process or in the communication I had with the host. WhatsApp Communication Outside Booking.com Platform: The host contacted me via WhatsApp, which is an unofficial channel outside of Booking.com, to request the payment of the $100 pet fee. This is highly irregular, as all communications and payments should be processed through the official Booking.com platform for security and documentation purposes. Below is a summary of the WhatsApp conversation: The host confirmed my check-in time and asked about the pet fee. I confirmed that I had already paid the pet deposit, but the host insisted that I pay the $100 pet fee and provided a payment link. The host also indicated that this fee was necessary to cover cleaning costs for the pet, but the fee had not been disclosed before. Payment Processing Delay: I followed the host’s instructions and paid the $100 pet fee as required. However, due to the payment method provided by the host, there was a delay in processing the payment through my bank. I made the payment well before 4:00 PM (the scheduled check-in time), but due to the bank's processing times, the payment was still pending. Despite fulfilling all requirements on my end, the host refused to allow me to check in.
